The status of water storage in 91 important reservoirs in the country is better when compared with the storage of the corresponding period of last year.
According to a statement by Ministry of Water Resources, the water storage available in 91 important reservoirs of the country as on August 6 was 78.366 BCM which is 50 per cent of total storage capacity of these reservoirs.
This storage is 93 per cent of the storage of corresponding period of last year and 99 per cent of storage of average of last ten years, the statement said.

Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu have better storage as against the corresponding period last year, while Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala have lesser storage, the statement said.
