Seeking to end water scarcity especially during winter months in Kurseong town, the GTA has initiated work for constructing a water tank with a capacity of 9 lakh litre.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was performed yesterday for the proposed water tank near St. Helen's which will replace the old British era water-tank which had remained non-fuctional due to lack of repair.

Speaking on the occasion, GTA councillor Yogendra Rai said, "this project will be built at a cost of Rs 1.59 crore which has already been sanctioned... And it will hold 9 lakh litres of water, which should suffice for Kurseong town...

Right now, due to a non-functional reservoir, water had to be directly supplied to many parts of the town, so during lean months there would be no water to supply... This tank will take care of that issue.
