The Delhi High Court today sought personal appearance of Delhi's Chief Secretary, irked over non-filing of a report on the study undertaken to devise measures to handle issue of waterlogging in the national capital as per its order.
A bench of justices Pradeep Nandrajog and Jayant Nath sought the presence of the top bureaucrat of Delhi government on April 23 as a report on setting up a workable infrastructure for present and future requirement of the city's drainage was not submitted despite assurance to the court that it would be filed in two weeks.
The assurance was given to the court on March 26 when the matter was renotified to today as the report was not available.
The court had on October 29 last year directed the government-appointed committee to expeditiously submit the report by March 26 this year.
The panel was also instructed to study the water-holding capacity of different catchment areas and ponds, the overall drainage system of unauthorized colonies and to fix the service level bench mark/milestone.
The court had passed the order on a plea by various NGOs and resident welfare associations which had raised the issue of waterlogging during rainy season in Delhi.
It had disposed of all the pleas in the matter except the one initiated by it on its own motion based on news reports of waterlogging in South Extension-I here and had listed the same for directions on March 26.
