West Bengal government today directed its employees to report for duty tomorrow, the day Left parties and BJP have called a statewide bandh in protest against terror and violence in the just-concluded civic elections.

"In view of the call given by some political parties for bandh/strike all over the state on April 30, it has been decided that all state government offices including those provided with Grants-in-Aid by the state government would remain open and all employees should report for duty on that day," Principal Secretary, Finance Department, H K Dwivedi said in a 'memorandum'.

It also said no leave would be granted to any employee on the said date.

"The Governor has been pleased to decide that absence of employees on that date will be treated as 'dies non' and no salary will be admissible unless such absence is covered by genuine grounds (as mentioned in Finance Department Memorandum on March 6, 2012)," it added.
