Speaker Om Birla informed Lok Sabha on Monday that he has asked the chief secretary of West Bengal to convene a meeting of a committee which monitors implementation of central schemes in states.

Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had recently complained that District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC), also called Disha committee was not meeting regularly.

The Speaker was responding to Chowdhury's complaint. The Congress leader represents Baharampur in Lok Sabha.

The Committee was formed a few years ago for effective development coordination of almost all programmes of central government.

The Speaker also directed Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur to distribute copies of corporate social responsibility (CSR) guidelines to all members, as most of them are first timers.

He issued directions as some members raised the issue during Question Hour.
