Virtually questioning the impartiality of the National Commission for Women which visited a gang-rape victim in Subolpur village today, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wondered why a woman CPI(M) leader accompanied them.

"It does not matter. They took a CPI(M) women leader along with them," Banerjee told a questioner at a media briefing here after inauguration of a new secretariat in north Bengal.

"The answer to this (question) will be given by TMC spokesperson Mahua Moitra," she said adding that her's was a press conference on cabinet decisions and not of the party.

NCW chairperson Mamta Sharma led a team earlier in the day to visit the tribal girl who was allegedly gang-raped on the orders of a kangaroo court at Subolpur village in Birbhum district on January 21.
