WB Cong chief terms Jaya's conviction as 'good message'

West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury today described as a "good message to all" Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's conviction in a disproportionate assets case.

Reacting to Jayalalithaa's arrest, Chowdhury told reporters here that the Bangalore Special Court's verdict showed everybody was equal before law, irrespective of the person's position or influence.

"I think it's a good message for everybody. Nobody is above law even if the person is influential. Even if it is BSP leader Mayawati, or our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee or TMC All India General Secretary Mukul Roy or be it Adhir Chowdhury ...If found guilty he or she should not be spared," he said.
 

To a question in connection with the multi-crore Saradha ponzi scam, Chowdhury said, "Law will take its own course.
