Denying allegations by the ruling Trinamool Congress that it was involved in violence in jute mills in West Bengal, the BJP today alleged that the state government was indirectly responsible for the killing of a CEO.
"The state government is responsible for this problem. They are indirectly responsible for the killing of the CEO as they ignored the labour problem there," state BJP President Rahul Sinha said, referring to the lynching of CEO H K Maheswari of North Brook Jute mill at Bhadreswar on June 15.
"For five months the workers had received no salary. The government was lethargic in solving the problem. Why did not the state government call a tripartite meeting to solve the problem?" Sinha asked.
Sinha also demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of four persons in Raidighi area of South 24 Parganas on June 14.
"She (Mamata Banerjee) has blamed the BJP for the Raidighi violence where four Trinamool workers were killed. Let there be a CBI inquiry, it will bring out the truth who is responsible behind the killing," Sinha said.
"We are against violence. The incident was a result of internal clashes within the party," he claimed.
Sinha also ridiculed the TMC sending its team to BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh over the issue of violence against a tribal woman.
"They are sending a team to MP. If such is the case then the BJP central leadership has to send teams every day to Bengal where crimes against women are the highest under the Trinamool regime," said Sinha.
