"It is disappointing to note that the organisers of TTF, which originated in Kolkata and spread to other centres subsequently, only promotes outbound tourism," state tourism minister Rachpal Singh said at the inauguration of the fair here.
The organisers did not bother to give something in return to the state, he said, adding that if this continued, then West Bengal would disassociate itself from the fair next time.
Singh said that the organisers should hold roadshows outside the state to promote West Bengal's tourism potential.
The minister said the tourism budget had been raised from Rs 36 crore to Rs 90 crore.
The Centre had also given a financial assistance of Rs 50 crore for projects in Dooars.
He said the state would promote tea-tourism in non-cultivable areas of the tea estates where resorts could be built.
Singh claimed his department had to build the tourism infrastructure from scrap as no development was done during the former Left Front government's tenure of 34 years.
