The West Bengal government is considering to implement Kolkata Police recommendations and restrict tram movements in congested areas of the city.
Replying to a question from the Opposition benches on the number of trams plying the city, state Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari told the Assembly today that currently 85 trains were plying in Kolkata.
The Opposition members, however, claimed that the number of trams plying in the city has come down to 40.

Adhikari said state was also considering more unique usage of trams like tram resturants in PPP model and leisure tram travels during weekends in the city.
