The West Bengal government has decided to trifurcate the state Social Welfare Directorate to boost various development activities initiated by the Social Welfare Department.
Announcing this here today, state Social Welfare Minister Sasi Panja told reporters that the decision was taken up at the cabinet meeting on November 7.
The entire process would cost the state government about Rs 4.73 crore. However, it would create a total of 156 new posts, the minister said.
With restructuring of the existing directorate, three new directorates - Directorate of the ICDS, Directorate of the Child rights and Trafficking and Directorate of Social Welfare would be created, she added.
