West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi today described the porposed AIIMS as the latest crown of Kalyani township in Nadia district.
The Centre has given clearance to an AIIMS at Kalyani last year.
Tripathi further referred to Kalyani as an educational hub and a town of hospitality.
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya Vice-Chanceellor Asit Chakraborty, Kalyani University Vice-Chancellor Malayendy Saha, SDO, Swapan Kumar Kundu were among those present.
The festival will continue up to January 17.
