The West Bengal government today sought more funds to strengthen the state consumer affairs department.

"I met Union Food and Consumer Affairs minister Ramvilas Paswan today and asked for certain steps to empower national and local consumers," state consumer affairs minister Sadhan Pande said.

"I asked him to take steps to bring an act on inadvertent advertisements," he said.

Pande also sought funds for introducing consumer awareness in 500 schools annually.

"We have also sought help to build composite building at districts that will house consumer courts," Pande said.
