In the midst of the tussle over the panchayat polls, West Bengal State Election Commissioner Mira Pandey has received a threat letter, commission secretary Tapas Roy said today.

"She has received a threatening letter from an individual," Roy told PTI.

He, however, declined to divulge the contents of the letter which was received recently.

Home Secretary Basudev Banerjee said a hand-written letter from Bankura district was received by the office of the State Election Commissioner "which threatens the commissioner."

Detectives from Kolkata and state police have been asked to investigate the matter.
