"The state government is keen to include cultivation of lac in MGNREGA. It will generate sustainable livelihood," Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee said here today.
"An official proposal will be sent to the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh tomorrow for the Centre's approval", he said.
Lac is a resinous substance secreted as a protective covering the lac insect and used to make varnish and shellac.
