The special team, constituted by the West Bengal Human Rights Commission to probe vandalism in Presidency University, visited the campus today.
Speaking to reporters, the team's head Amal Mukhopadhyay said the formal inquiry would start on Thursday.
"Today we talked to Presidency University Vice-Chancellor Malabika Sarkar and the registrar. We will start the inquiry into the incident on April 18," Mukhopadhya, a former principal of the erstwhile Presidency college, said

Presidency University was wracked by violence when miscreants allegedly carrying Trinamool Congress flags, ransacked the historic Baker Laboratory and vandalised other departments of the university on April 10.
The university vice chancellor had stated that she saw those indulging in the act of vandalism carrying TMC flags.
Taking serious note, the WBHRC had also asked the city police commissioner to investigate the incident and submit a report within two weeks.
