WBHRC takes cognisance of Harirampur violence

West Bengal Human Rights Commission today took suo motu cognisance of the heckling of staff and teachers by students of a South Dinajpur college after they were caught cheating during BA Part I examination on Saturday.

"The commission has taken suo motu cognisance of what happened in the Harirampur college and has asked IG North Bengal to submit its report within next two weeks," an official of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission said.

A team of Gour Banga University was gheraoed, heckled and their vehicle damaged when action was taken against some students of Dewan Abdul Goni College in South Dinajpur district, who were cheating during the BA Part I examination on Saturday, police sources said.
