WCL employees donate 1-day salary for U'khand flood victims

Western Coalfield Limited employees have donated their one-day earnings totalling more than Rs six crore for the victims of Uttarakhand floods.

The contributed amount, to the tune of Rs 6,06,47,000 was handed over to Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal in Delhi and it will be sent to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

Western Coalfield Limited (WCL) is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, which had also donated Rs 50 crore from its Corporate Social Responsibility budget for relief and rehabilitation of those affected in the tragedy.

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) employees also donated their one-day salaries to the tune of Rs seven crore towards relief works.
 

In an official statement today, Jaiswal, Member of Parliament from Kanpur, appreciated the concern expressed by CIL and WCL employees and their contribution towards the cause.
