The Samajwadi Party-led government in Uttar Pradesh today said it is not in a hurry to implement the Food Security programme in the state as certain aspects are to be looked into.
"Parliament has passed the Food Security Bill but the expenditure on transport and its burden is to be looked into. We will see how this can be implemented in the state," Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said.
"We are not in a hurry" to implement the programme, he told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
On the Disproportionate Asset (DA) case against party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh said "whatever I know about the case is from newspapers and you (media). I don't know much about it."
On the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting, he said to ensure that police reach the scene of crime timely, modern control rooms would be set up in four cities with GPS equipped vehicles.
"We are also providing new vehicles and training to the staff to be deployed at these control rooms," Akhilesh said.
The Cabinet also approved handing over of the Meerut airport to the Centre for developing an international airport there, he said adding the Saifai (Etawah) airport would also be expanded and modernised.
