Music director duo Salim-Sulaiman have given several chartbusters and the composers believe in churning out quality songs rather than worrying about awards.
"We don't do music for awards we do it for the love of the art. We work honestly towards making good songs. If we make good song then it will become a hit,"
"We don't work under pressure to give a hit song," Salim Merchant told reporters here at the music launch of Rahul Bose's upcoming film "Poorna".
Sulaiman too shares a similar opinion and says that they make songs according to the requirement of the film.
"When we make songs we make sure they go in sync with the film. We make songs according to the style of the film. For us rewards matter more, the audience love and appreciation matters," he added.
Sulaiman feels filmmakers should have faith in the music of their movies and launch it on a larger scale.
"Producers and directors should believe in the music of the film that it deserves this kind of launch. Like Rahul Bose felt this music launch (of 'Poorna') was required. But there are times when music directors and singers are not available to promote the music of the film due to prior commitments," he added.
The event was also attended by tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, who collaborated with Bose on his directorial debut, "Everybody Says I'm Fine".
"Salim and Sulieman are great composers...Par excellence. We have never seen R D Burman, Madan Mohan coming on stage even after they were very good," Hussain said.
"Today Salim, Sulaiman, Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy go on stage and perform. Today's music is created not only in studios but on stage. Amitabh Bhattacharya (lyricist) is doing a great job," he added.
Scheduled to release on March 31, "Poorna" follows the journey of Poorna Malavath, the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest, at the age of 13.
