With the Congress leadership yet to take a call on its proposed alliance with the Left in poll-bound West Bengal, the CPI(M) today said it will take a decision on the matter at an "appropriate time".

"We don't want to comment on the meeting of Congress leaders. It is their matter. We have no reaction regarding it. We will take our call at an appropriate time," CPI(M) state secretary Surya Kanta Mishra told PTI.

Congress leaders from West Bengal today unanimously rejected any alliance with ruling Trinamool Congress but remained divided on a tie-up with the Left as party Vice-president Rahul Gandhi held consultations with them during the day.

West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the state party leaders were totally against having any truck with Trinamool Congress, while some pitched for a tie-up with the Left at the meeting.

Rahul Gandhi told the party workers that the final decision regarding the alliance would be taken by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
