Force India are currently placed eighth with 46 points, seven behind Williams and 34 behind sixth placed Sauber.
Last year also Force India had struggled in the first half and went on to improve their position in the second half.
As actions returns in Formula One after a five-week summer break, Paul di Resta said his team would do everything to better its position.
"Williams are not too far ahead of us but Sauber have a big points advantage and it's going to be a big task to overcome that. But we won't give up; we'll keep pushing and see what we can do. We definitely have the potential to get some big results before the end of the year," Di Resta said.
"Spa is a great place to begin the second part of the season. It's one of the best tracks in the world and it always feels special to go back there."
Nico Hulkenberg also hoped that the team would be able to deliver better in the post-break session.

"I hope that we can make another step forward and can consistently score good results. We are eighth in the championship right now and clearly we want to make a big effort to improve on that in the coming races," he said.
Team Principal Vijay Mallya was pleased with the car so far and hoped the team will score points more consistently.
"It's a complete package. It's the car on the track, and whether it's the set-up, whether it's the downforce, whether it's the tyres, at the end of the day the whole thing has to come together as a package. Fundamentally it's a good car. We just need to put a few more points in our pocket, that's what's important," Mallya said.
