The road repair work in disaster hit areas of Uttarakhand gained momentum today even as the search for more bodies in Kedar valley continued with the weather remaining clear throughout the day at most places.

BRO and PWD personnel sped up repairing 47 roads in Chamoli district, including Rishikesh-Badrinath highway at Lambagad and Gopeshwar-Pokhri road at Hafla, which are still blocked by debris, Chamoli ADM Sanjay Kumar said.

If the weather remains clear like this the major roads are likely to be fully operational in ten days, he said.

Continued bad weather and frequent landslips in August had badly hampered road restoration work in affected areas of the rain-ravaged state.

However, with clear weather today, police and NDRF personnel continued combing the higher reaches of Kedar valley for more bodies but so far there has been no report of any more skeletal remains being found in Rambada, Junglechatti and Gomkura areas, IG R S Meena said.

Light to moderate rains occurred in isolated places in the state, MeT officials said.

Dunda in Uttarkashi received the maximum 20 mm showers but the rest of the places recorded negligible rainfall. Bageshwar received 6 mm rainfall, followed by Haridwar 4 mm and Badkot 3.8 mm, they said

There was no untoward incident reported from anywhere across the state, Disaster Management and Mitigation officials said.
