Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh remained dry for the past 48 hours with no report of fresh rainfall in the region, which had witnessed heavy downpour activity last week resulting in flooding at some places.
A MeT official said here that there has been no rainfall reported from anywhere in the two states and Chandigarh during the past 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM today.
The flow of water through Hathni Kund barrage over Yamuna river near Yamunanagar in Haryana had also decreased as against unprecedented 8.06 lakh cusecs water discharge over the week end.

"The water discharge had caused flooding in the Yamuna river in Yamunanagar district two days back prompting authorities to sound a high alert in the neighbouring districts of Karnal, Panipat, Sonepat and Faridabad through which the river flows, but the situation was improving," officials said today.
The southwest monsoon on Sunday had advanced into entire Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab, as against the normal date of arrival between June 29-July 5. Last year, the monsoon had hit the region on July 7.
However, before the arrival of the monsoon in the region, heavy pre-monsoon showers lashed several parts of Haryana and Punjab.
