Weather remains mostly dry in Himachal Pradesh

The weather remained almost dry in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as the monsoon weakened and barring few places there was no rain in the state, the local MeT office said today.

The day temperatures rose by a few notches and people in lower areas faced sultry conditions with the mercury rising to 38 degrees Celsius in Una.

The MeT has warned of heavy rains at isolated places in the mid and lower hills on July 10 and 11 and predicted wet spell in the region for the next six days up to July 14.

Nagrota Suriyan which received 13 mm of rains was the wettest in the region followed by Pacchad 9 mm and Dehra Gopipur 7 mm.
 

The maximum temperatures increased by two to three degrees and Una, which recorded a high of 38 degrees Celsius, was hottest in the day followed by Sundernagar (34.1), Kangra (33.3), Bhuntar (33.2), Nahan (30.4), Solan (29.6), Dharamshala (28.6), Shimla (25.1) and Kalpa (25).

Minimum temperatures also decreased by one to two degrees and Kalpa was the coldest at night with a low of 12.6 degrees Celsius.

Keylong recorded 12.8 degree Celsius while the key tourist destinations of Manali, Shimla and Dharamshala recorded a minimum temperatures at 13, 17.1 and 20.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
