Web portal for Durga Puja inaugurated

A web portal 'Aasan', a single window for all clearances for the Durga Puja festival in West Bengal, was launched by Kolkata Police today.

Inaugurating the portal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said it It would be of great help for Durga Puja organisers in the city as they can get all clearances under a single widow system.

Banerjee also said that everybody should be on high alert before Durga Puja, Diwali and Muharram and avoid untoward incidents.

She told a meeting of puja organisers and Kolkata Police that the government had decided that idol immersion will take place till 4pm on October 11 - the Vijaya Dasami day.
 

There will be no immersion on that day after that time as Muharram processions will begin. There will be no immersion on October 12 too due to Muharram processions and will be allowed on October 13, she said.

Banerjee directed all district police headquarters and police commissionarates to give 25 women clubs and 25 poor clubs Rs 10,000 each to help them in performing Durga Puja.

She also instructed Kolkata Municipal Corporations to give Rs 10,000 each to 100 poor clubs for the purpose.

She also urged the big clubs organising puja to come out in support of at least 10 clubs each.
