Instant messaging application WeChat today partnered with local search platform Getit Infomedia, which will allow its users to search deals and classifieds at their respective locations.

As part of the tie-up, WeChat users will be able to search restaurants, deals and classifieds at their respective locations with the help of AskMe, a product of Getit Infomedia.

"The AskMeSearch official account will allow WeChat users to do free location specific, text based local searches on their smartphones anywhere while they're using WeChat," Nilay Arora, Vice-President (Marketing and Business Development) of 10c India Internet Private Ltd which owns WeChat in India, told reporters here.

WeChat has around 100 million international registered users and it was the second most downloaded application in India in 2013.

"Through an official account on WeChat, AskMe will be able to establish a direct connect between the SMEs/merchants and their customers," Getit Infomedia CEO Jaspreet Bindra said.

He added Getit Infomedia has a database of around six million small and medium businesses (SMEs) and they get over one lakh calls every day.

WeChat also announced the launch of games on the messaging platform.

The company has rolled out four games, which are enabled with location based services.
