Much to the delight of general public, particularly farming community, various parts of the district and nearby Tirupur experienced moderate to heavy rains, giving respite from sweltering heat for the last few days.
Though the rains lasted only 20 to 40 minutes, it brought down the mercury considerably.
Water stagnated in the city streets and low lying areas.
Pollachi, Mettupalayam and other areas also experienced rains.
Rains also lashed nearby Tirupur city and its suburbs.
