Welspun Renewables to set up set up 11 GW power projects

Renewable energy firm Welspun Renewables today said it will set up 11 giga watt (GW) solar and wind projects across the country.

The 11 GW capacity will be developed as 8,660 mega watt (MW) of solar and 2,341 MW of wind power projects, the company said in a statement.

"Our 11,001 MW commitment is a direct reflection of how the solar and wind energy industries will be growing in the future," Welspun Renewables Vice Chairman Vineet Mittal said.

The comapny added that it would formally make the announcement on the first day of RE-INVEST at Vigyan Bhawan here. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is holding RE-INVEST - the first Renewable Energy Global Investment Promotion Summit - from tomorrow.
 

Welspun Renewables will be commissioning over 1 GW of solar and wind capacities well within this calendar year - December 2015. In recent months Welspun Renewables has signed renewable energy agreements of 1100 MW with Gujarat and 100 MW PPA with Andhra Pradesh.
