Went wrong with earlier trailer of 'Titli': Dibakar Banerjee

Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee will release a new promo of his upcoming production "Titli" as he feels the Indian audience could not connect with the earlier trailer.

The makers unveiled a trailer of the film last year. The movie, being presented by Yash Raj Films, made its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes International Film Festival in 2014.

"I feel we went wrong in the earlier trailer. Due to the immense international success of 'Titli' our first Indian trailer was still in the shadow of the international marketing strategy, where the film was positioned as an intense, bold, thriller about a bunch of car jackers who happened to be a family," Dibakar said in a statement.

"But when we showed the new cut to our focus group audiences in India, their reaction was a revelation," said the "Byonkesh Bakshy!" helmer.

"No matter how hard hitting the film was - at its core it's a very identifiable story of a young boy coming to grips with the dynamics of his family and struggling to become a man.

"Every Indian, who has a family and has to take on responsibility for it at a stage in his life, every Indian boy or girl who have quarrelled with their parents and wanted to run away, every parent exasperated by their child - will get this!" the filmmaker said.

Directed by debutant Kanu Behl, "Titli" stars newcomers Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi, Amit Sial, Ranveer Shorey and Lalit Behl (Kanu's father).

Kanu was the writer on Dibakar's "Love Sex aur Dhokha". He was also one of the assistant directors on "LSD" and "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye".

Kanu has also co-written the film with "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" director Sharat Katariya.

The family drama will unfold on October 30.
