West Bengal forest minister visits Jhargram's forest areas

West Bengal Forest minister Benoy Krishna Burman today went around tree plantation hubs of Jhargram in West Midnapore district.

Burman, who preceded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who is scheduled to visit the sub-division on January seven, visited Manikpara, Amlacholi - having 800 species' of plants - and the Badurkhola Eco-tourism centre.

"Hailing from north Bengal, a place known for its forests, I can share the feelings of those having made the tree plantation drive successful," the minister said.

He said in sync with the government's policy to save the greens and help those sustaining on forest land, Banerjee will interact with the people here.
 

Official sources said Banerjee will interact with the inhabitants of Amlasol, which had hogged the headlines for starvation deaths in 2004.
