West Bengal has emerged as the top state in terms of credit linkage of self help groups (SHG) in the cooperative sector during the 2018-19 fiscal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday.
Citing a report of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Banerjee said the state gave credit to over 97,500 SHGs in the sector.
"As per the report of NABARD, West Bengal provided credit to 97,535 self help groups in the cooperative sector, leading to huge creation of employment and income generation, mostly among women," the CM said in a tweet.
