In the wake of the heightened tension between India and Pakistan on the Line of Control (LOC) and the International Border (IB), the General officer commanding in chief (GOC-in-C) of the western Command Lt Gen Surinder Singh today met with Governor N N Vohra and chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Lt Gen Singh called on the Chief Minister and briefed her about the latest situation on the borders as a result of continuing cross border shelling.
The Chief Minister asked the Army Commander to extend all possible help to the civil administration in border areas in rehabilitation and safety of people living there.
Lt Gen Singh also, called on Governor NN Vohra at the Raj Bhavan and discussed the obtaining security situation and several important issues about the effective management of counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism Grids along the international borders.
