The objective behind observance of this day is to wean away youth from terrorism and violence by highlighting the sufferings of common people and projecting how violence is hazardous to the national interest, a defence spokesman said here.

All ranks of the Headquarters Western Command including the civilian staff participated in the pledge-taking ceremony and took the oath to oppose all forms of terrorism and violence, he said.

They pledged to uphold and promote peace, social harmony, and understanding among all fellow human beings, he added.
