The Southwest monsoon remained normal over western Uttar Pradesh resulting in light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the past 24 hours, the meteorological department said today.
Heavy rains occurred at isolated places in the state, it said.
The maximum amount of rainfall was recorded in Puranpur (Pilibhit) at 10 cm, followed by Meja (Allahabad) at 8 cm.
Mohroni (Lalitpur) and Moradabad received 6 cm of rainfall each.
Muhammadi (Khiri), Kasganj (Kanshiram Nagar) and Aonla (Bareilly) received 5 cm of rainfall each.
The Met department warned that heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in western districts of the state in the next 24 hours.
A Central Water Commission report said major rivers including Ganga, Ram Ganga, Yamuna, Rapti and Quano were flowing very close to the red mark.
Sharda at Palia Kalan (Kheri) and Ghaghara at Elgin Bridge (Barabanki), Ayodhya and Turtipar (Ballia) are flowing well above the danger mark, the report said.
