Wheat climbs by Rs 100 per quintal

wheat maintained its upward trend for the fourth day and prices surged by another Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased demand from flour mills amid restricted supplies.

A few other bold grains also strengthened on increased offtake.

Traders said rising demand from flour mills, driven by ongoing wedding season amid pause in arrivals kept wheat prices rising.

Besides, a firming trend at futures market also supported persistent rise in the wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat MP (desi) and wheat dara (for mills) shot up by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,750-3,285 and Rs 2,270-2,275 per quintal respectively.
 

Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 2,280-2,285 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also settled higher at Rs 1,260-1,270, Rs 1,340-1,360 and Rs 1,350-1,370 from previous levels of Rs 1,150-1,160, Rs 1,230-1,240 and Rs 1,300-1,320 per 50 kg respectively in line with a wheat trend.

Other bold grains like, bajra and maize also moved up by Rs 20 and Rs 50 to Rs 1,540-1,545 and Rs 1,680-1,690 per quintal respectively. Jowar yellow and white too rose by Rs 50 each to 1,850-1,900 and 3,500-3,700 per quintal respectively.
