Wheat eases on adequate stocks, rice basmati up

Wheat prices eased by Rs 45 per quintal at the wholesale grains market due to reduced offtake by flour mills against sufficient stocks.

However, rice basmati moved up on stockists buying against restricted supplies from producing belts.

Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills against ample stocks on the back of arrival of new crop in the market kept pressure on wheat prices.

They said, however, stockists buying against restricted supplies from producing belts led to the rise in rice basmati prices.

In the national capital,wheat dara (for mills) and desi fell by Rs 45 to Rs 1,600-1,605 and Rs 1,965-2,570 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,605-1,610 per 90 kg.
 

Atta chakki flour mills and maida settled lower by Rs 5 and Rs 10 to Rs 850-860 and Rs 930-940 per 50 kg, respectively.

On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety ended higher at Rs 5,600-5,700 and Rs 4,300-5,300 from previous levels of Rs 5,500-5,600 and Rs 4,250-5,200 per quintal, respectively.
