Wheat edges higher on increased offtake by flour mills

Wheat prices were higher by Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on the back of increased offtake by flour mills.

Barley and bajra also moved up on industrial demand.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills mainly led to the rise in wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,570-1,575 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,575-1,580 per 90 kg. Sooji also seen in some demand and gained Rs 10 to Rs 980-1,000 per 50 kg.
 

Barley and bajra too traded in positive zone with a rise of Rs 30 and Rs 10 to Rs 1,460-1,465 and Rs 1,220-1,225 per quintal, respectively.

On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety eased to Rs 8,900-9,700 and Rs 7,100-9,600 against last close of Rs 9,000-9,700 and Rs 7,300-9,800 per quintal, respectively on lack of buying support.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 8,900-9,700, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 7,100-9,600, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,700-2,800 and Rice IR-8-1,900-1,950, Bajra 1,220-1,225, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,220-1,230, Barley 1,460-1,465.
