Wheat edges up on increased offtake by flour mills

Wheat prices firmed up by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by flour mills amid restricted arrivals from producing regions.

Maize also strengthened on increased demand.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in wheat prices.

In the national capital,wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1,590-1,595 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,595-1,600 per 90 kg. Atta flour mills also inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 845-850 per 50 kg.
 

Maize remained in demand and gained another Rs 10 to Rs 1,265-1,270 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 8,600-9,800, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,400-10,000, Permal raw 2,150-2,200, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,600-2,700 and Rice IR-8-1,800-1,850, Bajra 1,245-1,250, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420,white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,265-1,270, Barley 1,320-1,330.
