Wheat falls on adequate supply

Wheat prices drifted by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market today following adequate positions against reduced offtake by flour mills.

Bajra, maize and barley also eased on reduced demand from consuming industries.

Traders said besides reduced offtake by flour mills against adequate stocks position mainly kept pressure on wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell by Rs 20 to Rs 1,600-1,605 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,605-1,610 per 90 kg.

On the other hand, sooji edged up to Rs 1,090-1,110 from previous level of Rs 1,030-1,050 per 50 kg on festive season demand.
 

Other bold grains like bajra, maize and barley fell to Rs 1,200-1,205, Rs 1,210-1,215 and Rs 1,600-1,605 against last close of Rs 1,215-1,220, Rs 1,220-1,225 and Rs 1,630-1,635 per quintal, respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 8,200-8,700, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 6,800-8,600, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,750-2,800 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,200-1,205, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,210-1,215, Barley 1,600-1,605.
