Wheat futures climb 1.39% on pick up in demand

Wheat prices climbed 1.39 per cent to Rs 1,969 per quintal in futures market today as traders widened their bets, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in November month rose by Rs 27, or 1.39 per cent to Rs 1,969 per quintal with an open interest of 210 lots.

Similarly, wheat for delivery in December contracts rose by Rs 9, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 2,011 per quintal in 11,140 lots.

Analysts said expanding of positions by participants due to pick up in demand from flour mills in the spot market mainly led to rise in wheat prices at futures trade.
