Wheat futures marginally up on speculative buying

Wheat prices edged up by 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,686 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators built up fresh positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in far-month May rose by Rs 5, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,686 per quintal with an open interest of 6,350 lots.

Similarly, the wheat for delivery in April month contracts edged up by Re 1, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 1,662 per quintal in 5,130 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in wheat futures to speculative positions created by traders.
