Wheat prices edged up by 0.28 per cent to Rs 1,794 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators built up fresh bets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in April was trading higher by Rs 5, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 1,794 per quintal with an open interest of 1,110 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in wheat futures to fresh positions created by traders on uptick in demand in the physical market.
