Wheat prices rose further by 0.52 per cent to Rs 1,735 per quintal in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions amid uptick in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 9, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 1,735 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,660 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by speculators amid pick up in demand from flour mills in the spot market kept wheat prices higher at futures trade.
