Falling for the second day, wheat prices eased further by 0.79 per cent to Rs 1,642 per quintal in futures market today as speculators engaged in reducing their positions, triggered by adequate stocks position at spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for April fell by Rs 13, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 1,642 per quintal with an open interest of 3,980 lots.
On similar lines, the wheat for delivery in March traded lower by Rs 9, or 0.54 per cent to Rs 1,660 per quintal in 2,530 lots.
Analysts said, trimming of positions by traders amid ample stocks position on increased supplies from producing regions in the physical market against lower demand from flour mills, mainly kept wheat prices down at futures trade.
