Wheat prices inched up by 0.34 per cent to Rs 1,775 per quintal in futures market today as speculators made fresh bets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in June edged higher by Rs 6, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 1,775 per quintal with an open interest of 5,150 lots.

Likewise, the wheat for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 2, or 0.11 per cent to Rs 1,790 per quintal in 6,060 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to improved demand in the physical market amid a pause in arrivals from producing belts influenced wheat prices at futures trade.
