Wheat, maize ease on reduced offtake

Prices of wheat and maize eased upto Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market today due to reduced offtake by flour mills and stockists.

However, barley moved up on increased demand from consuming industries.

Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills and stockists against adequate stocks position mainly kept pressure on wheat and maize prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills)fell further by Rs 5 to Rs 1,575-1,580 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,580-1,585 per 90 kg.

Maize also eased by Rs 30 to Rs 1,205-1,210 per quintal.
 

On the other hand, barley edged up by Rs 20 to Rs 1,590-1,600 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 9,300-10,000, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 7,600-10,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,700-2,800 and Rice IR-8 1,900-1,950,Bajra 1,235-1,240, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,205-1,210, Barley 1,590-1,600.
