Wheat, maize weaken on reduced offtake

Wheat and maize prices drifted up to Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to reduced offtake by flour mills and stockists.

Traders said besides reduced offtake by flour mills, adequate stocks position, kept pressure on wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) eased by Rs 5 to Rs 1,605-1,610 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and ended lower by the same margin to Rs 1,610-1,615 per 90 kg.

Other bold grains like maize also shed Rs 10 to Rs 1,280-1,285 per quintal due to subdued demand from consuming industries.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,500-8,000, Rice Pusa (1121) 6,300-7,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,125-1,130, Jowar yellow 1300-1,375, white 2,300-2,450, Maize 1,280-1,285, Barley 1,520-1,525.
