In restricted activity, wheat prices shed Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following increased arrivals of new crop from producing belts against reduced offtake by flour mills.

However, other grains after moving in a narrow range on scattered activity, settled flat.

Traders said increased arrivals of new crop in the market against reduced offtake by flour mills mainly led to decline in wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) declined by Rs 5 to Rs 1,470-1,475 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and ended lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,480-1,485 per 90 kg.
