Wheat, rice basmati edge up on increased buying

Prices of wheat and rice basmati firmed up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by flour mills and stockists.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills and stockists mainly led to the rise in wheat and rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) edged up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,610-1,615 per quintal.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji were also moved up to Rs 850-865, Rs 910-925 and Rs 1,050-1,060 from previous levels of Rs 840-850, Rs 900-910 and Rs 1,040-1,060 per 50 kg, respectively.

In the rice section, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety traded higher by Rs 100 to Rs 6,100-7,000 per quintal.

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,610-1,615, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,615-1,620, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 850-865 (50 kg), Maida 910-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,600-8,000, Rice Pusa (1121) 6,100-7,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,110-1,115, Jowar yellow 1,375-1,400, white 2,300-2,500, Maize 1,260-1,265, Barley 1,600-1,605.
